SMTP protocol interprets a line containing only a dot (followed by newline)
as the end of the DATA for the message.  If you want to make lines
that appear to have only a dot, put a space after the dot.  It also
works fine if you put a space BEFORE the dot.  

This isn't a list bug, it's the behavior specified in RFC821.
