Have you run /sbin/fsck.ext2 ?

Check the man page for details.

I don't use single user mode so I can't really comment... except it
shouldn't (logically) be talking about runlevel 3 since it's more of a
runlevel 1 thing in this case (I think).

Hmm.. we've been going on and on about a thread relating to this but I've
been ignoring most of it..

Yeah.. I think the two errors are related. How's your RAM? Physically and
as far as Linux is concerned? How much do you have, etc?

Do you have program crashes, etc?

Memory problems will do this.

/sbin for other utilities (it's a cool place for that sort of thing) :)
