PPPd problem

Dear All please help me. I am in big problem with pppd in rh6.2. This was ok in rh6.0. I used chmod u+s pppd in rh6.0 and other users can run pppd but in rh6.2 i did the same but only root but no users can run pppd.   It says remote system should be authenticated. What's the wrong ?   Help urgent.   Thanks   Selim
