*sigh* We all have stories to tell, so here's mine.
How could replacing a simple device--in this case a
power cord--be so darn complicated for company X?
The company that I was working for at the time, was
doing a number of internal transitions. Office
furniture and people were getting moved around
constantly to accomodate new staff additions,
renovations, and etc. During this shuffle, the power
cord to a scanner was lost, although we still had the
OEM data cable.
The power cord and the data cable were proprietary (the
cord used a weird voltage) so we had to call X
support to get another one. They could not help us,
period. But, instead of telling us this point-blank,
they were evasive, and shifted us from one person to
another. They said that we needed to have the power
cord in our possession to 'replace' it. A power cord
could not be given to us unless we gave them one to
replace. Is that weird or is that...weird?
Best Regards,
L.G.
