How to set first console (tty1?) to noclear

Howdy,

In SuSE I have the first Virtual console (tty1?) set in such a way that the 
boot messages are NOT cleared from the screen/buffer when getty starts up 
on that console.

I remember that it has something to do with "noclear" but what file does 
that go in?
