There was a bug associated with the copy of that module on the 6.1 install
disk, although I never had a problem with my AIC controller (the onboard
SCSI of an Asus P2B-S mainboard). The obvious first step would be to go to
the latest install disk (that would be redhat 6.2 with the updated boot
floppy, or if you can't find a copy of 6.2 handy or get someone to burn you
one, at least get the updated boot-whatever.img and updates-whatever.img
for 6.1, write them to disk and follow the associated instructions to
install) and see if the problem goes away.
