xfce has its own setup tool if I remember right, xfce_setup. Running this
will cause xfce to be your default desktop. As for the switch manager, I'm
not positive how to set that up, but if you use gdm, xdm, kdm etc.. you'll
need to edit the /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession file and include a line for xfce in
the environment case section:

xfce)
     exec xfwm
     ;;

If you do use gdm you'll need to add a xfce session under /etc/X11/xdm, I
just copy KDE rename it to XFCE and change the exec file to xfce insted of
kde.

Hopefully that will help, took me a while to figure out all the little
things to do to get it to work.
