I've seen a problem where if you're cabling isn't up to spec, and are
connected to a 100MB hub...when the card negotiates it speed on start up, it
agrees that it can run at 100MB, but that's really the wrong answer.
If this *is* what you're seeing, force the card to run at 10MB/half one way
or the other.
