I have heard of problems with some switches that don't let the machine "see"
a mouse or keyboard when not switched to that machine. You might try
switching to the machine, rebooting, and then configuring the mouse. I would
try to make sure that the machine is the active one on the switch whenever it
is booted.
Just a guess. But probably worth a try.
BTW I have a compaq kvm switch that uses the printscreen key to switch and
have had NO problems with it. Several machines are using the ps2/serial
adapters.
