packet monitor

does anyone konw of any software or 
comamands in linux to monitor traffic through
the network.  human readable maybe for 
tcpdump or netstat?
or something similar like
systat -netstat in BSDI

i need to tknow traffic from who sent/recieved
to see what is going on in the system
