If you have the Gnome desktop, that player is probably "gtcd". This is
easily changed in the "GNOME Control Center" -> Peripherals -> CD
Properties to be any other CD player. I use xmcd. Sorry, but I think
gtcd is just plain ugly. Also, for some reason that I have never
investigated, xmcd can usually determine the title of CDs for which
there is not an exact match in the online CD database, while gtcd
doesn't.
