This is what I have, and it works for me. (Installed from tarball.)
[hal@feenix hal]$ ll /dev/i2c*
crw------- 1 root sys 89, 0 Apr 17 1999 /dev/i2c0
crw------- 1 root sys 89, 1 Apr 17 1999 /dev/i2c1

If the rpm did everything right (might be reason to question this),
you can run 'sensors-detect' and this should tell you what modules
you'll need to load.
