Linda, tricky problem.

Once a drive is partitioned & formatted using one geometry, you can't just
set another. It more than likely won't work. For example, setting sectors to
62 as opposed to 63 requires a whole different way of reading the disk for
info. Throw in the new U-Beaut translating controllers etc., and it becomes
even messier.

The only way to do this properly is back-up the data somewhere else, set the
geometry correctly, re-partition and re-format the drive, then restore the
system.

The easiest way to do this (I think) is to use something like Ghost (I
believe it does Linux partitions now so I've been told). dump an image onto
an external source (CD, Network, other hard drive, whatever), do the
resetting of the hard disk, then restore the image back. I can't think of
any other way, but I'm sure one of the gurus here on the list can.
