hiya - we have an old scsi disk as a spare disk in our server that is
giving me all sorts of troubles... just wondering if this is more
likely an uncureable HW problem or something that can be solved by a
low-level initialize or two?

also how do I low-level format if I should be initializing?

whenever I try to use the disk I get these sorts of complaints in my log file:

May 4 19:40:58 server kernel: Deferred error sd08:01: sense key Medium Error
