Hi Linux Gurus,
I am trying to be familiar with Red-Hat
Linux 5.2
installation and alomost it is done
accept the X
window. After login as root I was not
able to launch
the X windows on my linux system.
let me tell you what I did in brief:
1. Installed linux(including X
windows), everything
went all right.
2. Logged in as root and edited
/etc/inittab to run
level 5
3. did startx at # prompt, something
happens and
immediately the display gives lost of
error. most of
the time error # 111.
I think it could be the video card
problem, but I am
not sure "how to fix" it.
The system configurations are :
AMD-6 500 MHZ
64MB RAM
COMPAQ MV720 monitor, Video Card : SIS
530
sufficient disk space 10 GB
running windows and linux on the same
machine
