For whoever migh be interested : It works this way (would be easier if redhat 6.2 
module loading was not apparently broken .. see other message ) :

- tell the ide-cd to ignore the drive to be scsi emulated :

options ide-cd ignore=hdx

- load ide-cd BEFORE loading ide-scsi . With redhat 6.2, don't try pre-install, it 
does not work (at least not for me). Use "below"

below ide-scsi ide-cd

et voila ..
