I'm using Redhat 6.0 and cannot for the life of me figure out why I
can't get Ftape 4.02 to compile. I have modified MCONFIG (which from
what I saw, didn't need any modification with the exception of telling
it that I am using a 586 processor). When I look in the
/lib/modules/2.2.5-15/misc directory, I see an old ftape.o (Apr 99)
loaded there. When I issued the command mt -f /dev/ftape erase I get
the response: Device not configured.

When I issue "make" from the top level source directory, there are a
number of messages that come back to me. I can really understand what
they are saying.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Note: I ran make config for the
kernel, it looks like ftape support for the standard floppy controller
is already installed. Yes I am using a floppy based tape drive. I
believe it is the irwin 120 mb model.

Thanks. PS.. I have been reading the how-to's etc.
