Hi !
Knowing to start off-topic discussions probably, I'd like to give a warning
(sorry, not an asnwer to your problem, but may a prevention from upcoming
probs):
Stay away from Maxtor drives !
I work a lot with computer hardware and I never saw harddrives die so
fast. Maxtor has an approximately life time of one year, as I would say out
of my experience. Their support sucks a big time both in USA and Europe, in
the last year I had eight (!) Maxtor drives to be burried and a Connor
drive of ten years age. Maybe it is too late now, but I highly recommend
you to switch to another manufacturer.
Maxtor has only two advantages, their drives are big and dirt cheap....but
there's a reason for that.
I made very good experiences with Quantum, Fujitsu and IBM for sure,
Seagate is ok too, either they break down within a few days or never, but
Maxtor is a nightmare.
Well, that's basically it, just my opinion,
Greez
