I think that there are benefits with DNS and I am going to do it. As I am
going to have 24 7 internet connection, would I set up a local cache DNS
server and use the DNS server from my ISP as the primary server? Or is it
easier to have a primary server since I have the 24 7 connection? Is DNS a
resource hog? I was thinking of including it on the same server as
Apache...Is that a good idea ( considering the site will not have that much
traffic initially)

If you want to refer to everything by IP, no. If you want to call
machines by name, yes. In a small network, I'm not sure DHCP gains
you anything. In a larger network, where laptops are going to pop on
and off etc, it probably becomes more feasible. Now, if you're going
to have friends come over with their laptops, then DHCP may be more
appropriate.
