I have a client who is running lpd on a 5.2 system with several serial printers. A few months ago he had a problem where no jobs would print and would just stay in the queue. lpr would give the message, "no daemon present" but ps would show it running. We finally got it working by removing all the print jobs from the queue and restarting lpd. Yesterday he had the same problem and followed the same procedure as before and it started working again. However, today he is having the same problem and he claims removing the print jobs and restarting lpd does not fix it. He is using the lpr-0.48-0.52 rpm update. Any help is most appreciated.
