I have the same problem. My soundcard works if I cat a file to dev/audio.
If I play an Mp3 file it sounds most peculaur. Also if I try to use system
sounds in gnome the sound goes on and on and on on and on and on on and on
and on on and on and on -well you get the point. I take the problem to be
an X/gnome one though using the command line player (mpeg?) that came with
RH6 in xterm give me the same problem. NH.
