New users boot up query

I get one error message when Linux is loading 'No APM support in Kernel'.
Does this have any significance or can it be ignored or corrected.

Finally can I upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1, or do you have to re-load, and anyway
is 6.0 is more stable.
