3 weeks ago I installed Redhat 6.1 from a CD on to a new MS free
Quantum 4.2 G hard drive in Gnome workstation auto. As clean as
anything could be and everything seems to work as per manuals.

Then I installed a new 56K Zoom/Faxmodem on com1 which was not
recognized and changed to com4 and on boot it was recognized
and asked to install. I have never been able to dial to my ISP.

I booted from a DOS 6.2 floppy and used a 5 year old Bananacom
program which instantly configured and dialed the number so I
know the modem is OK.

Before I list the modem install errors there is a boot error;
"remounting root file system in read-write mode FAILED"
Does this mean anything?

I printed the 15 pages on modems from Redhat by Will Harris and
have gone thru 3 installation options with the same result.

In rp3 I needed to change to COM 4 but when I deleted everything
and went to Internet connections > modems ttyS0 is still there
and not highlighted so I can't change it.

When I try to add modem I get error
"Application /usr/bin/rp3 (process 545 has failed
      (Segmentation fault))"

I have more info if this is not enough.
