I understand, but what I'm trying to help you determine is "who's
fault?"
"top" should tell you what programs are using all of that processor time
(%CPU), as well as how much memory they're using (SIZE). Watch top for
a couple of seconds, and see what programs are using a lot of processor
time. Then press "shift+M" to see which ones are using a lot of RAM. I
suspect that the same few programs will be on top of each list. The
programs that are taking a lot of processor time are likely growing
quite large in memory. I saw this once when I installed a qt rpm that
had been linked against libc5, and kde linked against libc6. Have you
installed/updated any libraries since you built this system?
