(from memory now), if you're working with the source tree
for the default 2.2.12-20 kernel, there is a "configs"
subdirectory in /usr/src/linux, with a number of different
config files depending on your architecture and whether or
not you need SMP.
if you download a new kernel source tree (say, 2.2.14),
look under (most likely in your case) /usr/src/linux/arch/i386,
and you'll see file "defconfig" (and other neat stuff as well).
