if you are not using encrypted passwords(easiest, but unsafe) its
relatively easy.  i dont use encryption because its much easier, plus im
on a small network behind a firewall so all you security freaks layoff. 
just use this patch which is just a registry entry that makes win95 98
and NT use plain passwords.  just run it and reboot the pc then try to
use the password again.
