I have the same kind of setting but I don't really understand what you mean by 
"needing dhcp server" .

Could you precise what you want to do ?

My example : my firewall is the router with the dhcp assigned ip. Behind it I have 4 
machines running in a private network. All machines are masqueraded so they get access 
to internet as well.
