Thanks, but no that's not the problem. The Windows patch for the K6-II,
long-since installed, fixes a problem where it sometimes won't even
boot, intermittently. The problems I encountered were it was just
beastly about finding the hardware and kept insisting it knew what
devices were there and wanting to keep reinstalling drivers for stuff
that wasn't there. I've managed to beatit into submission for all except
the sound card and hard drive controller which it keeps wanting to
reinstall even though they're already installed and work fine.
 
But since I've now got an old junker to use on the rare occasions when
I need to use Windoze, I haven't booted it on this machine now in months,
and I'm happy that way!
