As of a month ago, at least, you couldn't get the Red Hat installer to
deal correctly with a 34 GB drive.  What I had to do (thanks to Dave
Goldblatt for helping me) was partition the drive to a total less than
32 GB and not let the Red Hat installer make or format the partitions.

Apparently the problem stems from a kernel bug.  Patches to deal with
the 32 GB upper limit on IDE drives may have made it into the
development kernels, but I didn't check.  The 6.1 installer can't
handle anything over 32 GB (and Red Hat support didn't know that using
PartitionMagic to make the partitions with the total under 32 GB would
work).
