>From a shell prompt (within X, start a Terminal window) su to root and
then run linuxconf:
1. su (type root password)
2. linuxconf &
3. Navigate to Config --> boot mode --> Mode --> default boot mode; and
change the "Default operation mode" to "Text mode & Network".
