Hello.. I just got a new Sony Vaio system and I decided to put linux on it.
I've had minimal Linux experience in the past with Red Hat 5.2. This time I
downloaded the distribution, burned it to a cd, made a boot disk, and
started the installation. It didn't like the graphical install program, as
it immediately encountered a fatal error and died... it said that there was
an X server error, no screens found. I started the install again, and went
into text mode. This time it went fine, except in one area where the screen
was covered with a few cryptic messages. Otherwise the install went fine.
After rebooting and logging in as root, I tried to start the X server. It
died, saying "no screens found." For my video card, I have an ATI Rage 128
2x AGP GL card. It starts loading X the normal way, and then goes back to
the shell prompt. It's trying to use the Mach 64 X server. I've been
through Xconfigurator, and it did no good. Any suggestions ? Your help would
be appreciated.

Thanks,
Zach
