Alright we have seen this problem and we've concluded it's due to how Mandrake defaults
to installing the kernel. For our next release we are looking into putting pre-compiled
binaries for Mandrake, CorelLinux, and a few other distributions. In the meantime there
are two solutions you can try; 1. Install 'make'  or 2. Recompile your kernel, which
requires make to be installed. So as you can see having make on your system can be 
pretty
handy thing to have.
