Have you checked out Jpilot? Looks fairly decent (I dont sync with my linux
box, so I haven't actually tried it - just something I found at
www.pilotgear.com)

http://jpilot.linuxbox.com/

Alas, the current Palm Desktop is pretty reliant on MFC (esp. for the
low-level database stuff), so porting it over is probably no small task.

Yes, the pilot-link packages do well for system backup, uploading memos,
installing programs, etc.

However, this package doesn't have a nice GUI interface to read your memos,
update your address book, etc. But there is another package, Kpilot, which
does
these things -- although I'm not too fond of it. :( The Kpilot package is a
qt/KDE program.

I just wish 3com would do the right thing and port their sync application to
Linux or Java. I've sent them a nice note, but they ignored it.

If I didn't know perl, I could learn C (I just can't learn C, now that I
know
perl so well. Why would I want to write a 5 line hello-world progran in C
when
I can do it in 1 with perl?)
and if I knew C, I would write the damn thing myself, since it's once of
those
'itches' I have.
