Hi Pat,
I am currently working on building a new email/DNS/bootp server with
RHL50 to replace my old reliable RHL303. I had similar problems with
not being able to send from my W95 boxes, but could receive.
There could be a myriad of problems, but the one thing that seemed to
help the most was (looking... on my linux box...
I changed the files in /var/named. I saved the original ones off
to file.orig. I zeroed out the named.ca which seems to allow a box
which is directly connected to the internet full time to do inquiries
into the most efficient way to connect to another box on the ether.
In my case, I only connect to my ISP via dialup for email, and dont
need this stuff. On my original 3.0.3, I didn't have a named.local,
but I allowed the original RHL50 named.local to exist as is, and it
doesnt hurt. I just moved the named.hosts and named.rev from my old
box to the new one. I also brought over my /etc/named.boot file from
the old 3.0.3 box and plugged it in without change.
hope that helps,
fred
