Look for files called PPP-ON and PPP-ON-DIALER...these are scripts to get PPP working under Linux (at least under RH). Move these scripts to a good (I put them in /etc/ppp) place and edit them -- you will have to change the phone number and any IP addresses listed in PPP-ON. Then go to PPP-ON-DIALER and check over that file. It basically builds a script for when the connection is made. One of those "I'll wait for this text to appear, and then send this other text in response..." type of deals. It has worked for me for the last year or so...
