yes, AIS, redhat 9.  glibc-2.3.2-27.9, nptl-devel-2.3.2-27.9, as via
up2date i expect, which i run daily.

glibc i understand to be inherent to virtually everything.  whatall uses
nptl?  perhaps all the apps i'm seeing hang?

could you elaborate on what it is that you're seeing all the time?  with
which glibc/ntpl versions?
