I am not sure I'd agree with the 'you need to be a competant network
administrator' but I'd go along with the need for planning. I read the
many manuals thoroughly before I installed Netware 3.11 for a 25 user
system a few years ago. Before that I didn't have a clue about running a
network and it was only after I had been running a sucessful system for
nearly a year that my bosses decided I could go a Network Administrators
Course. Still got a certificate someplace.

My system had been running for over three years on the day I retired. Only
maintenance required was to add more users. FWIW I had the first version
of WordPerfect Office running on it, that did cause a few problems. Now
every word processing package has groupware built in.
