There is > >NetWare cannot be installed withou planning it properly first. A 'load it >and see' approach doesn't work and causes immense grief. You need to be a >competent network administrator before attempting an install or maintenance. I am not sure I'd agree with the 'you need to be a competant network administrator' but I'd go along with the need for planning. I read the many manuals thoroughly before I installed Netware 3.11 for a 25 user system a few years ago. Before that I didn't have a clue about running a network and it was only after I had been running a sucessful system for nearly a year that my bosses decided I could go a Network Administrators Course. Still got a certificate someplace. >The plus side of this is that these systems are usually maintained by >someone who is competent to do such. Once up and running a NetWare server is >incredibly boring and gathers dust in the corner. Ours once spent 30 months >without maintenance. My system had been running for over three years on the day I retired. Only maintenance required was to add more users. FWIW I had the first version of WordPerfect Office running on it, that did cause a few problems. Now every word processing package has groupware built in. -- Using OS/2 Warp 4, Injoy and MR/2 ICE ----------------------------------------------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (John Lewis) <<< Head honcho, Dorset Rough Riders Mountain Bike Club. http://www.dorset-rough-riders.mcmail.com Races a hardtail S Works M2 in the Grand Vet category and hacks the trails on a Dawes 'The Edge'. >>> If you want it done right, forget Microsoft. ----------------------------------------------------------- -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
