I have been having great performance with the DLT drives from HP and Quantum.
Overall the best price per gig is the DLT 2000XT (Quantum) or HP SureStore DLT30
and fast too, better than 1 meg/sec and max 30 sec seek to any block.
Also, I have been running refurbished drives for 2 years now with no hitches,
a refurbished drive will cost you $700 to $1500 depending on how lucky you are
with the auction sites or repair houses. Tape should cost $35 to 40 each for
15 gig native capacity. I have 8 of these drive in constant operation.
