On the clent computer. Try this in /etc/cups you will find a file 
called client.conf add the line
ServerName ####.###.#.# (this is the ipaddress of the server)

Printing can be frustrating to get set up. If you use any old
programs that use printcaps like word perfect you also need
a fake print caps file.
