In some other unix systems, it is possible to determine thruput to a
particular drive by looking at sar/iostat.
You can take the number of blks/s, multiply it by the blk size (usually
512-bytes) to determine the mb/sec being done to the disk.

However, with the versions of iostat/sar delivered with red hat, the man
pages state that the size of the blocks is indeterminate.

Does anyone have a way to determine what the throughput to a drive may be at
a given time?
