there are a few problems i need a little help in finding the cures to.

Start by providing the model number of the machine on which you are working. In a mailing list, the ONLY things we know about you are what you tell us. And your "Satellite laptop" could be 10 years old or 10 days old... no way of knowing. Provide more detail.

Also, check out this site in particular: http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/ and look for your make and model number (or similar machines). Also try http://tuxmobil.org/mylaptops.html for another source.

my built in network port does not work.
my pcmcia network card does not work.

Read the file /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and look for the word NETWORK to see what devices were detected and whether Red Hat Linux knows what they are. Again, provide more detail... make, model, chipset, something! You have just told several thousand people the equivalent of "my car doesn't work" and it is IMPOSSIBLE to ever be able to help you with that information.

Good luck,
