Never said you did.  But you're obviously suffering from an inability to
compile ACPI support into the kernel.  In fact, I believe you referred
to yourself as "an idiot when it comes to compiling the kernel".  I take
that to mean that you're not comfortable compiling a kernel.  If you
can't follow explicit instructions as listed in one of the links I
attached, then you're either going to have someone do it for you, or
you're out of luck... 25 years' experience or not.

I don't see where my reponse was being elitist.  I went out of my way to
a) Google your issue, and b) verify that each of the 4 links c) worked,
and d) contained relevant information to your issue.  I suggest you
avoid being so defensive in a forum where folks are volunteering their
time to help others.

I can sympathize that we (US citizens) are living in an age where
political correctness constantly snaps at our heels, but it really
doesn't have a place here.  Try to look past the [dry] wit and accept
the charity.  You have no idea how under-appreciated many of us feel in
here when recipients of our (good) advice neglect to a) thank us, or b)
simply tell us things _worked_.
