Yeah I guess I keep missing the point. got into a mode of "I wonder what CAN be done with the rescue mode. I would not hold my breath for redhat, but that is just me. there are a couple of bootable rescue cd projects out there and if you don't want to reinstall the os first as suggested then you will probably need to go that route. someone suggested knoppix ir rolling your own rescue cd is probably not a bad idea either.
