I have had several system hangs recently (requiring hitting the reset switch, the ctrl-alt-del combination doesn't work) when I tried to scan. I have a Pentium 133 system, with an ISA bus AHA1542CF and an ISA bus AHA1522B installed. The 1542 has a 2.1G SCSI hard drive and a 1.2G SCSI tape drive on it. The 1522, which I load as a module, has only the scanner on it. The scanner is a UMAX Astra 1200S. If I jump to the latest 2.1.x kernel, are these problems likely to go away? If I take out the 1522 controller, move the scanner to the 1542, and add in a new PCI bus Advansys ultra wide controller that I've just bought, is that likely to fix things? This is so frustrating! Thanks...
