Personally speaking, I think PnP in linux is just as good as M$.
Matter of fact, to give an example, I recently was given a Toshiba
laptop to use at work, it had 98 on it, but I at least needed a real
OS. I began by trying to install XP Pro. I managed to get the OS
installed, but after the reboot, my sound card didn't work, and
believe it or not, the DVD-ROM drive wasn't seen by XP. Toshiba says
that a clean new install of XP will work, but I never got it to. I
ended up installing 2K on here as well as RH 9. RH 9 installed
correct drivers for everything. DVD drive included. Just my
experience, mind you, but if it can install clean on a laptop, I
figure it will install anywhere.
