Ed, thank you for your reply. I haven't contacted 3com, but according to the info (faq #6) on http://www.homepna.org/support/faqs.asp the card is compatible with Linux. It's just that I read somewhere that the driver mentioned in the website above was compiled with an older version of gcc, which made it unworkable (for beginners like me) in a Redhat 8.
You may be right - Just for fun I just tried to compile that driver on my RH 9 system and came out with heaps of errors.
I'm too much of a compiling newbie myself to understand what the errors mean, but if someone has got some spare time, I'll be happy to attach the gmake output if it will help.
