No, its a primary partition. It hasn't got a file system yet. It was created by Ontrack because the 120 gig drive was only 60 gig without it. I left the fourth partion raw so I could install Linux after I got Windows installed.

Thanks.

I have to agree with the other poster here. The ODD seems to always work fine for me on Win9X/XP but it seems to mess with Linux.

Is there any chance at all you can update your BIOS to see the full 120Gb and NOT use the ODD?

Ed.

Is the 4th partition is an extended partition?

Hello Everyone:

I have recently installed a 120 gig WD drive and it's great. I partitioned it into 4 sections. The first one is C: for Windows & drivers, the second is D: for Windows applications, the third one is for downloads & music, the fourth is for RedHat. I downloaded the .ISO's the other day and burned the 3 CD's. The CD's pass the CD
test with no problems. The installation starts ok and askes if I want it to partition automatically or manually. Of course, I want to do it manually to make sure Windows is operational until I get RedHat operational. Good ol' Disk Druid opens and gives me a map of the drive and I select the fourth partition to set up a 2 cylindar swap drive then select the remainder of the drive for the mount point. Immediately I get an error stating I can't set a partition beyond the end of the drive and the operation fails. No matter what I do, I can't get a successful partition to install RedHat into. What can I do now?
