Short answer: partition numbering in the partition table has changed and lilo is unable to boot because it can't find the proper partition number. Explanation: XP (or most Microsoft products) like to renumber the partition table so that the Windows OS runs on partition #1; so if you've installed RH first on those, then XP second, any change you make will cause the table to be renumbered and the RH will be toasted; but you can re-edit the /etc/lilo.conf on those machines and recover them. -- Tue Jun 3 08:00:00 EST 2003 08:00:00 up 3 days, 17:09, 4 users, load average: 0.11, 0.22, 0.19 ----------------------------------------------------------------- | __ __ |kuhn media australia | | /-oo /| |'-. |http://kma.0catch.com | | .\__/ || | | |================================| | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' |stephen kuhn | | | / \__.`=._) (_ | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | ----------------------------------------------------------------- linux user #:267497 linux machine #:194239 * MDK 9.1 & RH 7.3 Mandrake Linux Kernel 2.4.21-11mdk Cooker for i586 ----------------------------------------------------------------- * This message was composed on a 100% Microsoft free computer * A well-used door needs no oil on its hinges.
