I have an FIC AN-19c motherboard that also has the VIA AC97 built-in sound. The RH "sound card detection" utility is useless for configuring the AC97. There is a driver available from VIA at http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=87#audio but I've not been able to get that to work either. I've been thinking that maybe the AC97 on my MB is broken. Has anyone else had any luck?
