Hi all,

I have a nicely working RH9 server, acting as a PDC for some Windows XP machines we have here. Logins are serviced nicely, and data is being stored on various SMB shares successfully.

The problem we're having is that our accounting package (Sage Line 50) refuses to allow more than one user to login at the same time. The Sage data is stored on one of the Samba shares.

Previously the sage data was stored on a WinNT4 server, and worked fine, happily serving around 8 Sage users at a time.

I know this must be something to do with file locking, and have tried various things suggested out there with the oplocks, locking, etc, but all to no avail.

The share is simple:

[mobiles_sage]
path = /home/netapps/mobiles_sage
writeable = yes
browseable = no

unix permissions on the share are set to 0777 for testing purposes, and indeed everything works, but only with one user. The rest of the smb.conf is also relatively basic, with no mention of locking/oplocks at this time.

If anyone has any tips they would very much be appreciated, as I'm having to waste an entire machine by running NT4 on it, just so I can store our accounting data somewhere. Really need this machine for something else!

Thanks all

L
